POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

I've always been very interested in research so I'm thinking about specializing in that area.

My university a postgraduate program, dictated by the journalist Maria Olivia Monckeberg, that has everything I want. It's here in Santiago so I wouldn't have to move and that would give me the chance to work while I'm studying.

I haven't looked into any distance learning programs but I feel that is also something i would like to do, because you can manage your time as you want.

Research suits me way better than doing typical journalistic stuff. I would rather investigate deeply to make an actual change rather than just giving quick instant information to people.

I want to get a post graduate degree in the same field eventually, maybe abroad. My dream is to do a full investigation by myself (or at least I would like to lead it)  and write a whole book about a topic that I’m actually passionate about.

I think it's very important to continue studying after finishing my career, because in that way I can gain more expertise and be a better journalist. In addition, today in most of jobs offerts want people with graduate degrees, so if you wan´t to have a good job it´s really necessary to have a postgrade degree.

MY FUTURE JOB

When I graduated from High School I was very confused because I didn't know what to study. I always liked language and classes from the humanist area. I had two options of career in the university, the first one was law and the second one was journalism. My whole family said that I had to study law, so I decided to be a lawyer, and it was awful. After one year I decided to follow my real vocation and study journalism.

Now I am in my fourth year of journalism and next year I finish my studies. And for the moment I don't know in which area of journalism I want to work. I only know that I would like to work in a office with a peaceful atmosphere. I am not a person interested in having an outdoor job.

Lately I have thought that I would like to travel to another country, maybe to Spain. And there look for some part-time job in a magazine or in a newspaper. And in my free time take some postgraduate course about investigation journalism.

I think in a few years I will be in a stable job, but for now it is really hard for me to imagine that.
